Cambridge Mask Co partnered with Aviva to support their 5km AirRun campaign for the fight for clean air in Poland! This was a great initiative that gathered thousands of people in the center of Krakow to increase awareness of air pollution.

Poland has some the most polluted air in all of the European Union, and 33 of its 50 dirtiest cities. The problem is largely a result of the country’s love affair with coal. Like elsewhere in Poland, most of the homes in the villages below Zar Mountain are still heated by coal. Some 19 million people rely on coal for heat in winter. In all of the European Union, 80 percent of private homes using coal are in Poland.

The European Environment Agency estimates that air pollution causes 44,000 premature deaths annually in Poland and that living in Warsaw year-round is the same as smoking 1,000 cigarettes.

Anti-smog masks prevent dangerous particles PM2.5 and PM10 from entering your body. When the concentration of air pollution is high, it is best to limit the time we spend outside.

You don’t have to hide at home thanks to the mask. All AirRun participants received a Cambridge anti-smog mask in their starter package for the race.
